The Strange Trend Sweeping US Hospitality Services

When you live in hotels you start to notice some funny things. Something I’ve noticed at 3 different hotel chains in the last month, I also noticed at Hertz Rental Car yesterday.

What is it?

People on the front desk answer the phone by saying “Hello, it’s a great day at ….. (insert hotel name / Hertz branch name).”

My questions

(1) When did this start?

(2) Who the heck got together and decided these unlinked companies would all do the same thing?

This greeting is even more weird when you’re standing at the front desk and sh*t has been going down (the wifi is on the blink or the person has 15 people standing in front of them to check-in), and they still answer the phone this way (obviously because they have to).
