I always believed my 20s would be my best decade when it comes to travel, but now I’m in my 30s traveling keeps getting better and better. Maybe it’s because I’ve made major strides in my career and achieved some financial stability, or maybe it’s because I’ve finally got my life in order. Either way, here’s why travel in your 30s is far much better!
1. You Can Afford To Splurge on Food and Accommodation
Your backpacking days when you had to live the hostel life are now over. And naturally, you’re well along in your job that you can choose something more comfortable and tasty – and not even feel the pinch. Your money may not stretch to private yachts and personal butlers, but you certainly won’t have a problem paying for a comfy bed in that 5-star establishment or an indulgent, decadent and truly delicious meal in the choicest of restaurants in your destination. What’s more, for added convenience, you can afford to spend a little more on a first or business class ticket on a reliable airline. The financial stability you get in your 30s means you don’t have to compromise on the things you love.
2. You’re ready To Explore Many Different Interests and Passions
As you hit your 30s, you’ve already developed many different interests and hobbies. You’re also more financially and emotionally secure, which means you tend to worry much less about small things. Because of this, you get to approach your hobbies in a whole new way and you have the freedom to explore new activities. For example, if you love yoga you could choose to go for a yoga retreat in an exotic destination without having to worry too much about the cost. Alternatively, if you’re a foodie, you could plan to attend some cooking classes on foreign cuisine in your proposed destination. This is far much more fun and enjoyable than those boozy night out that you used to do in your 20s.
3. You’re More Appreciative of Solo Travel
In your 20s, it’s all about trying to keep up with your peers. You’re always trying to stay on top of things and to impress your friends. You have to put your best foot forward, whether it’s binge drinking or dating. But by the time 30s roll around, all these things are gone forever. You and your peers are older and more mature. You don’t have to spend time and money overcompensating for insecurities, and you are able to focus on what really matters – YOU! You can concentrate on the destinations and activities that you really love. While you definitely have people around you (family, spouse, kids), you’ll find that you’d much rather travel solo than be on a trip with someone who wants to indulge in activities you feel you’ve outgrown. You’ll wake up to and discover the joys of traveling solo in your 30s.
4. You’re More Appreciative of Your Life
As you get older, you get to realize how short life is and, therefore, develop a greater appreciation of life. You’re always seeking new experiences with the aim of ensuring that you continue to enjoy life. Through traveling, you’re able to get out of your comfort zone, find new interesting places and activities to engage in, and expand your capacity for enjoying life. Traveling in your 30s also allows you to get a break from your stressful workload so you can reinvigorate your mind, body and soul; and re-energize your motivation with fresh perspectives, rediscovered curiosity and fresh perspectives. In your 30s, travel becomes a treat, and you’ll savor it more!
5. You’re Able to Develop Meaningful Relationships
As you hit 30s, you’ll learn to appreciate quality friends and lose interest in having one-night stands with nameless faces and racking up drinking buddies while traveling. You’ll spend more time developing deep connections, which could prove valuable later on. At the same time, you’ll end those superficial friendships and get rid of acquaintances and toxic people so you can have quality overseas friends that can help you grow as a person.
6. You’re Smarter
Being older and more experienced with all things travel and life allows you to make smarter decisions. You have already faced the realities of travel and can handle all aspects of your trip like a pro, from packing to booking accommodation to dealing with airlines to choosing the best currency exchange rates from big companies like TorFX Travel Money Rates. Additionally, you can make wiser choices when it comes to choosing your destinations as well as things to do and see. As a result, you’re more likely to have more fun and fulfilling travel experiences when in your 30s.
